This series contains the bound, handwritten volumes of the minutes of the proceedings, orders of the day, speeches, resolutions, and other information relating to the Constitutional Convention of 1885. Volume I, 640 pages in length, contains the proceedings from June 9 - July 25, 1885; Volume 2, 180 pages, contains the proceedings from July 25 - August 3, 1885. It documents the activity of the Convention as it drafted a revised Constitution for Florida.

On October 10, 1865, the Constitutional Convention met in Tallahassee to nullify the Ordinance of Secession of 1861 and adopt a new constitution for the State of Florida. The new constitution went into effect on November 7, 1865, without being submitted to the people for ratification. The Constitution of 1865 was never fully effective.
